The ideal but limited voltage motor drive blocks of the companion version are expanded here, to include both an H-bridge motor drive, and also the digital logic necessary for converting the continuous PID controller output into the desired PWM signals. These are distributed to the ideal gate drivers for the Power MOSFET switches. The MOSFET model was calibrated to represent a Nexperia <a href="https://assets.nexperia.com/documents/data-sheet/BUK9M24-40E.pdf">BUK9M24-40E</a>, using only information published on the manufacturer’s datasheet.</p> <p>Notice that the mechanical load and the DC FRC CIM Motor are the same as in the companion version. While the simulation time for this switching version is significantly longer, more detailed information about practical circuit performance and component sizing is available. For example, the motor's speed response to a step command is somewhat slower because of the losses in the MOSFETs under high current conditions, as well as voltage drop in the battery. This required the Integral Gain to be reduced from 48.6 in the companion design to 20 here.
